How Vespa are you?

From Sicily to the beach, from Silver to Blue. I used to fall asleep in the back seat, or stand up at the front of my Dad´s Vespa, rain or shine. We traveled everywhere: my Dad, the Vespa, and I.

Polyvore Love : A room for Amara

The last few weeks had me busy playing around @ Polyvore. I love how you can create mood board or inspiration board using real ´things´ at Polyvore. I guess I´m not much into fashion as many Polyvore-an do, but I sure love to create decor/vignettes/inspiration board/etc using it.

Here´s one of my creations, a play room for Amara, my baby girl:

Reason

I haven´t posted in this blog for months. Since December 11, to be exact. The reason is because I lost all the data in my laptop hard drive, of which the most important ones of all are my baby´s photos. Thousands of them. Her photos that I took from the day she was born until her Dad´s b´day in 2007. I was heartbroken. Didn´t feel like writing anything for a while.

But now I feel like I´m ready to start again. After all, this is part of the journal that one day, hopefully, my baby can read. Her mother´s thoughts and collection of the things she likes.

Til next time, then.

inspiration today {.Pepe's Paperie & Marmilade.}

Pepe's Paperie. My favorite paper shop in Canberra. They stock the most beautiful Italian and Japanese papers and stationery amongst others. I've purchased Cath Kidston wrapping papers, Corban & Blair albums, and many, many, wonderful papers and stationery. Just love their shops. I check out their website today and discover that online shopping is available. Very nice. I've been visiting their Woden shop since I first live in Canberra, some 6 years ago. Love them. Love them I say.

Marmilade - Limited Edition Clothing. Stumbled upon the website via All Things Bright and Beautiful. Reminds me a little bit of Alannah Hill's, except that these are one-off, unique pieces. No two are the same. It's hard to get, too, since you can't get them in your local mall. I so want those lacy and doily skirts and dresses.

wishlist {.Tracy Porter.}

I seriously love these bud vases. Or the hand painted, fine earthenware Monkey Pedestal Bowl below. Or most of the things in Tracy Porter's collection. Do I hear the word whimsical?

Women as art collectors

What I read @ Decorno, based on this article @ the New York Times, via Habitually Chic. Couldn't agree more.

It's a matter of buying what you like. For me it's also about supporting the local talents. I <3 my weeny art collection from Javanese and Balinese artists whom nobody ever heard of. There are just way too many talented artisans in Yogya and Ubud.

inspiration today {.Rasha M alHakim.}

I wish I could see more of her works. Love the colors. Stunning. Some of her works reminds me of Japanese anime/Sailor Moon type of drawings.

collecting {.watercolour paintings.}

I won these two watercolours from UK eBay today:

I got them for less than $5 both. Then my computer suddenly played up and I missed out on the one I coveted the most. Sigh. But aren't they so cute?!

Pen and ink with watercolour illustration. Would be really, really, good on my studio wall.

artist {.Claire Keay.}

A while ago, I received this Pay It Forward (PIF) free ACEO from Claire Keay. Claire is an artist from Rayleigh, Essex. I love her whimsical original watercolours. Visit her website to see more of her work, or purchase some from her Etsy shop.

house visit {.jasna.janekovic.}

What is not to love about Jasna Janekovic's apartment? Nothing. Everything is delightfully arranged in shabby chic colors and style. She painted her apartment and the furniture in whites, with various accent of reds and blues. Most of her collection come from flea markets and thrift stores. My kind of girl! Thanks for sharing your sweet home with us, Jasna!

house visit {.New York Social Diary.}

I'm having serious fun browsing the pictures and reading the interviews of uber-rich owners of New York apartments at the New York Social Diary. Most of the places are so opulent, so rich in textures, colors, and expensive furniture. Also, while there, don't miss the interview with Tord Boontje. He's one of my favorite designers, such beautiful things he creates. You won't see details of his abode, but you'll get to have a peek at his fabulous designs.

collecting {.vinyl toys.}

doc18 from flickr has the most amazing vinyl (and not - there are wooden, plush and others too) toy collection I have ever seen. He has hundreds of these creative and colorful figures. He takes his toys with him, they travel all over the places. Check out his piglet's travel-photo-log. It's not just his collection, but also the way he takes photos of them, so many interesting stories and backgrounds. I feel happy just by looking at all those characters and colors. ;D It makes me itch to start collecting these things too (maybe not, can't afford another collection ;P). Thanks for sharing your collection, doc18!
